How do I get my newborn photos printed?

February 7, 2017

How do I get my newborn photos printed? What is a print release? And why should I consider professional prints?

Digital photos look great on our smartphones, but many people want something a little more physical. Many newborn photographers include prints with their packages, so you may be wondering why I do not. Or you may wonder where you can get your photos printed. This post is here to help!

So why don't I include prints with my packages? The simple answer is that it keeps my prices low, and gives you control.

Many newborn photographers include prints with their packages, but their prices can get really expensive really quick. Or they force you to buy prints in order to get digital copies. I don't know about you, but I hate getting forced into buying anything!

I'm guessing you chose Swaddle Shots because I offer affordable pricing on newborn photos. In all of my packages, I include professionally edited digital copies of the photos purchased, along with a print release.

This last part is key. Digital photos are great, but without a print release most photo labs will not print your photos. A print release means you have the rights to get your photos printed where you want, when you want, and in however many copies, sizes, etc. you want. You are in control.

So if you want to save money and get them printed at Wal-Mart, you can. If you want to use an online service like Shutterfly, you can. All of the digital copies I provide are exported using the sRGB color space, which is the most common color space used by photo labs. So you really can go anywhere you want.

But if you do want better quality professional prints, you can get those too!

You can purchase professional prints of any of your photos directly from my website. They are printed at a professional lab, and are shipped directly to you. This is great, because professional photo labs really are much better than consumer labs. You also have the option of purchasing canvasses, metal prints, etc.  Plus, I don't charge the crazy markups some photographers charge.

Flexibility and affordability, what could be better than that?
